About Renault Certificate of Conformity
What is a Renault Certificate of Conformity (Renault COC)?
A Renault Certificate of Conformity, or Renault COC, is an official document issued by the manufacturer certifying that your Renault vehicle complies with European Union (EU) standards. This COC contains all the information required for registration, including:
- Chassis number (VIN)
- Vehicle category, weight, number of seats, colour, version
- CO2 emissions
- Engine power, transmission type and top speed
- Fuel consumption, engine capacity and noise level
The Renault European Certificate of Conformity contains more than 52 technical specifications required by the European Union to facilitate vehicle registration.
Why do you need a Renault COC?
This document is required when registering a new vehicle for the first time, or when importing or exporting your vehicle to or from the European Union. Government agencies require motorists to provide this document as proof that the vehicle has been approved. Every Renault COC is issued by Renault's approval department.
New Renault vehicles usually come with a free Certificate of Conformity. For a used Renault or if the COC has been lost, you will need to order a replacement Renault COC.
A Renault Certificate of Conformity is required to:
- Import a Renault into an EU country, Switzerland, Norway or the United Kingdom
- Export a Renault to another EU member state
- Register a Renault in another European country
- Correct your Renault registration certificate
