About Ford Certificate of Conformity
What is a Ford Certificate of Conformity (Ford COC)?
A Ford Certificate of Conformity, or Ford COC, is an official document issued by the manufacturer certifying that your Ford vehicle complies with European Union (EU) standards. This COC contains all the information required for registration, including:
- Chassis number (VIN)
- Vehicle category, weight, number of seats, colour, version
- CO2 emissions
- Engine power, transmission type and top speed
- Fuel consumption, engine capacity and noise level
The Ford European Certificate of Conformity contains more than 52 technical specifications required by the European Union to facilitate vehicle registration.
Why do you need a Ford COC?
This document is required when registering a new vehicle for the first time, or when importing or exporting your vehicle to or from the European Union. Government agencies require motorists to provide this document as proof that the vehicle has been approved. Every Ford COC is issued by Ford's approval department.
New Ford vehicles usually come with a certificate of conformity free of charge. For a used Ford or if the COC has been lost, you will need to order a replacement Ford COC.
A Ford Certificate of Conformity is required to:
- Import a Ford into an EU country, Switzerland, Norway or the United Kingdom
- Export a Ford to another EU member state
- Register a Ford in another European country
- Correct your Ford registration certificate
