About Volvo Certificate of Conformity
What is a Volvo Certificate of Conformity (Volvo COC)?
A Volvo Certificate of Conformity, or Volvo COC, is an official manufacturer's certificate confirming that your Volvo vehicle complies with European Union (EU) standards. This COC contains all the information required for registration, including:
- Chassis number (VIN)
- Vehicle category, weight, number of seats, colour, version
- CO2 emissions
- Engine power, transmission type and maximum speed
- Fuel consumption, engine capacity and noise level
The Volvo European Certificate of Conformity contains more than 52 technical specifications required by the European Union to facilitate vehicle registration.
Why do you need a Volvo COC?
This document is required when registering a new vehicle for the first time or when importing or exporting your vehicle to or from the European Union. Government agencies require motorists to provide this document as proof that the vehicle has been approved. Every Volvo COC is issued by Volvo's approval department.
New Volvo vehicles usually come with a free Certificate of Conformity. For a used Volvo or if the COC has been lost, you will need to order a replacement Volvo COC.
A Volvo Certificate of Conformity is required to:
- Import a Volvo into an EU country, Switzerland, Norway or the United Kingdom
- Export a Volvo to another EU member state
- Register a Volvo in another European country
- Correct your Volvo registration certificate
