About Nissan Certificate of Conformity
What is a Nissan Certificate of Conformity (Nissan COC)?
A Nissan Certificate of Conformity, or Nissan COC, is an official document issued by the manufacturer certifying that your Nissan vehicle complies with European Union (EU) standards. This COC contains all the information required for registration, including:
- Chassis number (VIN)
- Vehicle category, weight, number of seats, colour, version
- CO2 emissions
- Engine power, transmission type and top speed
- Fuel consumption, engine capacity and noise level
The Nissan European Certificate of Conformity contains more than 52 technical specifications required by the European Union to facilitate vehicle registration.
Why do you need a Nissan COC?
This document is required when registering a new vehicle for the first time, or when importing or exporting your vehicle to or from the European Union. Government agencies require motorists to provide this document as proof that the vehicle has been approved. Every Nissan COC is issued by Nissan's approval department.
New Nissan vehicles usually come with a free Certificate of Conformity. For a used Nissan or if the COC has been lost, you will need to order a replacement Nissan COC.
A Nissan Certificate of Conformity is required to:
- Import a Nissan into an EU country, Switzerland, Norway or the United Kingdom
- Export a Nissan to another EU member state
- Register a Nissan in another European country
- Correct your Nissan registration certificate
